Copenhagen Pot & Saucer - Glazed White
Beautifully handcrafted in Italy, this glazed white pot and saucer is part of Bergs Potter’s historic Copenhagen Collection. The signature design of the Copenhagen collection is the fine scallop detailing along top of the pot, with an elegant second accenting row. Each pot has also been meticulously crafted by hand, rendering each piece unique.
Named the “Castle Pot” after a pot made at Denmark’s Frederiksborg Castle in 1860, the pot design grew in popularity in Copenhagan in the 1960s after production moved to smaller potters in the city. Steffen Berg found his inspiration from a beautiful pot he saw years ago in a former nursery. Today, potters make the pot in a small village near Lucca, Tuscany.
The clay used in the Copenhagen Collection is fired at very high temperatures, giving the pots a natural durability. The special glaze treatment ensures the pot and saucer are completely waterproof, making the pots suitable for both indoor and outdoor display. High density clay also ensures the pots are frost resistant, able to retain moisture, while also allowing air to reach the roots for optimum plant growth.
The Copenhagen pot and saucer are traditionally glazed, meaning they are carefully treated by hand. The sturdy glaze and timeless white colour guarantees that the pot is made to last for generations to come.
